Hi All,

Well the season has finished – although its feels like it started only recently.

The final Club event was the singles championships completed a couple of weeks ago. Bob Johnson was the winner in 26 ends over Dave Park. In the plate final Greg Crain came home the winner over Geoff “Mala” Malaspina.  Both these finals and the Novice Singles were played on Friday afternoon/evening. This proved to be popular with spectators and competitors alike so will probably do the same next season.

In the Midweek Pennants Div 1 finished 5th so will retain their place. Division 4 finished last so will go back to Div 5 next season.

In the Saturday pennants Division 1 finished a strong 2nd so earned the right to challenge for a place in 1 White. Unfortunately they missed out – going down to North Beach by only 4 shots so will remain in 1 Blue. Division 3 did not do as well and will be relegated to Division 4 next season. Division 6 had a tough time being re-fixtured, a team pulling out and a couple of cancelled games. Also, the shortage of players meant they only had 3 players per rink a number of times towards the end.

Last Sunday saw the very successful running of our annual CD Dodd Carnival. The feedback and reaction from the 20 teams that competed was complimentary and most players had a great carnival. Many thanks go out to the many that helped on the day and in the lead up. Dan Wood and his helpers Bob Johnson and Dave Pert getting the greens in such great condition. Dan also helped by getting in more teams to compete. Jillian (rising from her sickbed), Dale and Rhonda who womaned the Kitchen and food preparation for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. Dave our BBQ maestro. All the helpers who put out the flags, tables, mats, water etc and then brought them back in afterwards. Tracey who organised the raffles. A big THANK YOU to you all.

Lastly (finally) – the winter competition kicks off on Sat 23rd April, 12:30 for 1:00 start. As usual it will be drawn pairs, $10 entry, with all moneys going back in prizes.

Have a great Easter.

Hi Everyone,

What a way to end the bowling year.

Thanks to many people’s help and contributions the Carnival was a great success. 22 teams came to compete from as far away as Hervey Bay and Norfolk Island. A Green was used for the first time since its refurbishment and was praised by everyone who played on it – and that was all 22 teams.

Many thanks go out to all the helpers both on the day and in the lead up. Dan Wood and (in his hour of Knee need) his erstwhile helpers Dave Pert and Bob Johnson for the Greens. Triple and Double Triple cutting, rolling and all the work they did.

Dale Preedy cooking since Wednesday preparing the lunches. Dale, Jillian and all the girls that prepared Salads and platters and served the hungry hordes on the day. Also a number of others who helped out on the day – bringing in empties, filling water – all the duty team stuff.

That’s it for this year. Pennants restarts on the 6th,  8th  and 15th Jan for Midweek, Saturday and Division 6. I have attached updated fixtures – Div 6 byes have changed.

The novice Singles are on Jan 9th. There are 2 players eligible.

On the evening of Tuesday 19th Jan we will be hosting the annual game against the Police Bowls Team. We will need 24 players who are not necessarily pennant players for 6 teams. Rollo will be providing a sausage sizzle and bottles of wine for prizes. Players will have to wear their club shirts. On Wednesday there will be a sheet on the board to put up your name. Last year the event was very popular so make sure you get in early.

Merry Christmas and a Happy and Safe 2022 to all members, Friends and Families
